MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It was with great sadness that members of this chamber learned of the passing of Lilia Silva on February 7, 2016; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Raymond A. Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lilia, born on December 2, 1932, was the beloved wife of Armando Silva, Sr.; loving and doting mother of Diana Rodriguez, Aleli Palacios, Elizabeth Silva and Armando (Gina) Silva Jr., jubilant grandmother of eleven; grateful great-grandmother of eleven; blessed great-great-grandmother of one. She cherished spending time with her family and enjoyed playing card games. She leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Lilia was employed with Schultz and Burch Biscuit Company in Chicago until her retirement, a hardworking, dedicated employee sorely missed by her colleagues. In her spare time she relished planting flowers in her garden; and
WHEREAS, In every aspect of her life, Lilia found her greatest joy in sharing experiences with others. Her door was always open for friends to visit, ready to serve up her famous sopas. She was known in her community for her astute wisdom and advice during times of trouble, without judgment. Lilia was a pillar of her community, a mentor to many, the head of a family, and an extraordinary woman who was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her; and
WHEREAS, Lilia leaves to cherish her memory; Armando, Sr., her devoted husband of many years; adoring children, Diana, Aleli, Elizabeth and Armando Jr.; her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren; Cherished sister of Celia Flores; and a host of extended family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Lilia, touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, generosity, and her spirit. She will be deeply missed by all and especially by those who shared in her warmth and compassion; now, therefore,
