TRIBUTE TO KIZA LEE DIXON
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Kiza Lee Dixon, an outstanding and loving member of her community; and
WHEREAS, Kiza Dixon was born as the daughter of Ed Bennett and Jannie Davis on June 15, 1926 in Pensacola, Florida where she graduated from A.A Dixon School; and
WHEREAS, Kiza Dixon came to this city in 1952 where she worked as a line supervisor at Industrial Condenser Inc. until she retired. She was well known for her dedication and devotion to her community's CAPS program as well as other organizations and was a strong activist in the community where she lived for 45 years, working diligently in the 28th ward with Alderman Ed Smith; and
WHEREAS, Kiza Dixon accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted Christian for the rest of her life. She was a member of Greater Open Door Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Richard Nelson. She also served on their Mother Board and the Missionary Society, as well as uniting with the Good Shepherd Grace Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Leon Peoples. She was a dedicated member of the Masonic sisterhood of the Order ofthe Eastern Star; and
WHEREAS, In 1960 Kiza Dixon was joined in Holy Matrimony to Leal Griggs. This union was blessed with three children, Cathy, Robert and Crystal; and
WHEREAS, Kiza Dixon leaves behind to honor her memory and celebrate her many achievements to her daughters: Doris, Ingrid, Gloria, Brenda, Linda and Cathy. Three daughters who preceded her in death: Cynthia, Lorna and Crystal, as well as her two sons: Joseph and Robert.
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jason Ervin, Alderman of the 28th Ward has informed this august body of this loving and respected woman's transition; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered on this 28th day of July, 2011 AD, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of this praiseworthy citizen and extend ...
