RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, World-renowned sculptor Richard Hunt will turn 80 next year and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago will celebrate his legacy of work with a special exhibition to be held from December 18, 2014 through May 17, 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The MCA DNA exhibit will feature Richard Hunt's work from the 1950s through the 1990s; and
 
WHEREAS, The MCA will also show a video of Hunt explaining his art and an interactive map with the locations of his works to date; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs will also stage a companion exhibit at the Cultural Center of Richard Hunt's early works; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Richard Hunt is best known for his abstract metal sculptures and public artwork; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard Hunt was encouraged to pursue his art from a young age and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before displaying his work around the City; and
 
WHEREAS, The popularity of Richard Hunt has continued to grow throughout his highly distinguished career and his works have been exhibited internationally; and
 
WHEREAS, The works of Richard Hunt are found throughout the world in corporate, municipal, private, and museum collections; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard Hunt is an iconic Chicago artist who is most deserving of this great honor; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby congratulate Richard Hunt on his remarkable body of artistic work and do hereby express our best wishes for the success of the upcoming MCA DNA exhibit; and
