CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO MICHELE MARX ON WINNING THE 2010
NORTH SHORE HALF MARATHON.
WHEREAS, Michele Marx, 37, mother of four, wife of Quintin S. Marx, has won first place for women in the 2010 North Shore Half Marathon with a time of 1:29:03, after competing for her second time in this marathon and has been featured in Chicago Athlete magazine as the Clif Bar Female Athlete ofthe Month; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this significant occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Michele Marx formed a core group of running friends and joined the Chicago Area Runners Association. Participating in various 5K, 10K, and half-marathon races, over the years, she also successfully completed five full marathons: two Chicago, two Milwaukee, and one Boston marathon.
WHEREAS, The North Shore Half Marathon includes approximated 2,000 participants, of which 1,044 are women; and
WHEREAS, Michele started the race strong and fast, two women managed to pull ahead of her. While attempting to reset her watch, which had stopped at mile two, Michele compensated by running faster. By mile three, she was in first place for the women, a lead she maintained until she finally broke the ribbon at the finish line; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Michele Marx on winning first place for women in the 2010 North Shore Half Marathon and being featured in Chicago Athlete magazine as the Clif Bar Female Athlete of the Month, and wish her every success in any and all of her future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Michele Marx.
