MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR IRENE ZAPASNIK

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Irene Zapasnik on Saturday, June 10, 2017 the age of 93,; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39^th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on August 26, 1923, Irene was the beloved wife of the late Stanislaw Zapasnik, Capitan of II Corpus; dearest aunt of Anna, Katarzyna in Poland, Maria Wanczycka in England and Piotr; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Irene leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Irene, a Siberian survivor, graduated from high school in Nazareth, Palestina; she was a volunteer in General Anders Army in Russia. Irene touched the lives of all who knew her through her love and spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Irene Zapasnik and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Irene Zapasnik as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
