RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley was the loving and devoted husband of Sandy; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley was the much-adored father of Laura and Sharon and grandfather of Liam to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Having joined the Chicago Police Department in 1971, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley served as a patrol officer, an instructor in the Training Division, a member of the "Officer Friendly" program and a detective in the Youth Division before retiring in 2005; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley earned a bachelor's degree from Northeastern Illinois University, master's degrees from Chicago State and Loyola Universities and a doctorate in philosophy from Loyola; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley worked with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and cemetery vendors to obtain headstones for the unmarked graves of police officers killed in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, As a popular instructor in criminal justice at Wright Junior College, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley shared his passion for learning and scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley conducted important primary research on the history of the Chicago Police Department, including the deadly Haymarket Riot of 1886; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Kenneth "Mike" Dooley serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kenneth "Mike" Dooley to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Kenneth "Mike" Dooley imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
