TRIBUTE TO VICTOR STARK MALDONADO, JR.
WHEREAS, On January 17, 2014, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment, has called to his eternal reward Victor Stark Maldonado, Jr., an accomplished runner, loving person, and friend to all; and
WHEREAS, Victor Maldonado was born in this city on April 8, 1995. He was brought into this world by his loving parents, Christine and Victor Maldonado, Sr. He attended Steven T. Mather High School on this city's Northwest Side where he joined the cross country and track & field teams, winning numerous awards while maintaining a high academic standing. He was among the city's top three freshman cross country runners in 2009 and also enjoyed spending time playing basketball and video games with friends; and
WHEREAS, In high school, Victor Maldonado was a part of the Mather Law Academy, a four year honors program focused on the study of law and law enforcement. It was through the Law Academy that he was given the privilege of an internship with the City of Chicago City Council Legislative Reference Bureau from October until May of 2013; and
WHEREAS, Victor Maldonado was a freshman at Northeastern Illinois University where he was accepted into the Omega Delta Phi Fraternity on the basis of his academic achievement and dedication to community service. As an Omega brother, he always took any opportunity to volunteer his time and service to the community while working part time as a pizza delivery driver; and
WHEREAS, Victor Maldonado Jr. was traveling to Arizona for the Omega Delta Phi National Leadership Conference with his fraternity brothers when a tragic accident in Dallam, Texas ended his life and that of another fraternity brother, David Roman; and
WHEREAS, Victor Maldonado leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving parents, his brother, Isiah Maldonado, and his sister, Destina Maldonado, as well as his law academy family, his relatives and many close friends; now therefore
