RESOLUTION

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Martin Janis has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Martin Janis was a prominent Chicago public relations executive known for representing an impressive portfolio top-of tier clients; and

WHEREAS, Martin Janis was the much-adored father of Elizabeth, Mercedes, Jim, Marty and Bill, the grandfather of five and the great-grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Martin Janis attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a journalism degree from Washington University in St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Martin Janis founded Martin E. Janis & Company in 1950 which operated until his retirement in 2014; and

WHEREAS, The firm's high-profile clients included Arthur Rubloff & Company, Florsheim Shoes, Canteen Corporation, Dean Food, Weight Watchers and the Kennedy Center; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Martin Janis serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Martin Janis to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Martin Janis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Martin Janis for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Martin Janis.
