Memorial Resolution for Lucia Barba

 

 

 

WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom and mercy has seen fit to call from this life, Lucia Barba, to her eternal home; and

 

WHEREAS, Lucia Barba passed away on June 5, 2017; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Lucia Barba's passing by the Honorable Raymond Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Lucia Moyado was the born to the late Mercedes (nee Castro) Moyado and Alfonso Moyado on February 26, 1935. She had a sister, Dolores, and a brother, Manuel; and

WHEREAS, Lucia graduated from Loyola University. She was a strict, but caring, teacher for thirty-five years in the Chicago Public Schools at Robert Fulton and William H. Seward Elementary Schools; and

WHEREAS, Lucia Barba had a son Martin, whom she adored; and

WHEREAS, She was a committed docent at the Field Museum and thoroughly enjoyed giving tours of the Pawnee Earth Lodge. Over the years, Lucia developed a bond with the Pawnee people so during the summer she would attend Pawnee Pow Wows in Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, Lucia was a beloved friend of many. She also adored cats and kept a pet rat; and

WHEREAS, Lucia was preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes and Alfonso Moyado; and

WHEREAS, Lucia Barba leaves to cherish her memory her son, Martin; sister, Dolores; and brother, Manuel; and numerous family and friends; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Lucia Barba and extend to her family and friends our sincere condolences.

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Lucia Barba.
