RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 97; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky was a proud World War II veteran and the loving husband of the late Jean; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky was the much-adored father of Donna, Gregory and JoAnn and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A member of "Our Greatest Generation," Victor George Kubelsky bravely served his country in the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky was one of the last surviving crew members of the USS Foreman, a destroyer escort assigned to anti-submarine duty in the South Pacific, and accompanied troop, supply and combat ships; and
WHEREAS, The USS Foreman earned five battle stars and fought at the Battle of Okinawa, the Solomon Islands and Leyte Island in the Philippines; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky served as a Petty Officer, Second Class, and was assigned to search the skies from the bridge to spot approaching kamikaze ¦ pilots; and
WHEREAS, Following the war, Victor George Kubelsky met his future wife at a dance and worked for Kropp which manufactured landing gear for Boeing and parts for locomotives; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky also operated a corner bar, Vic's Lounge, in Cicero for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice and dedication of Victor George Kubelsky serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Victor George Kubelsky to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Victor George Kubelsky was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives...
