RESOLUTION



WHEREAS, Erin Lavin Cabonargi, the longtime Executive Director of the Public Building Commission, has announced that she will leave her post to accept a position in the private sector; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Erin Lavin Cabonargi was first appointed to serve as Executive Director of the Public Building Commission of Chicago on March 11, 2008 and was the Commission's Director of Planning and Design from November 2006 until March 2008; and
WHEREAS, Erin Lavin Cabonargi came to the Public Building Commission from the ' Chicago Public Schools where she worked on master programming, planning and entitlement projects; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining public service, Erin Lavin Cabonargi worked in leadership and project development roles for OWP/P Architects and The Architects Partnership as well as in research and academic roles at the University of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, During her esteemed tenure with the Public Building Commission, Erin Lavin Cabonargi provided invaluable leadership in regard to the development of public buildings, facilities and infrastructure for the City of Chicago, the Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Public Library, the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Police and Fire Departments, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications and Cook County; and
WHEREAS, Under her leadership, the Public Building Commission completed more than $2.8 billion of work, both on time and under budget; and
WHEREAS, As head of the Commission, Erin Lavin Cabonargi oversaw the development of more than four million square feet of new construction, including the Modern Schools Across Chicago program, notably the new Jones High School, Sarah Goode STEM Academy, the renovation to the Chicago Vocational Academy and the unprecedented 2013 School Investment Program where 98 schools were renovated in nearly eight weeks; and
