MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Mary A. "Maureen" Sheridan, nee Sweeney, was called to her eternal reward on April 21, 2013, at the age of 82; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Maureen Sheridan was an active and vital member of her community. The beloved wife of the late John E. "Jack"; cherished mother of John (Elizabeth Mason), Thomas (Paulla Carpenter) and Mary (Taleb) El Bekkali; devoted grandmother of Pamula Glazer, Deliah and llias El Bekkali; loving daughter of the late Francis and Bridget (nee Fergus); dear sister of the late Franklin (Mary Olive) Sweeney; dedicated daughter-in-law of the late Austin and Elizabeth Sheridan (nee Frain); fond aunt to many nieces and nephews, Maureen leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, A long-time parishioner of St. Edwards Church, Maureen was a founding member of the Irish American Heritage Center, member of the Northwest Board of Realtors, past president of St. Anne's Sodality and recipient of the National Catholic Woman of the Year Award; and
 
WHEREAS, Maureen touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart, and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighth day of May 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Maureen Sheridan and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the
