TRIBUTE TO EUGENE D. KOHN
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called to his eternal reward, Eugene D. Kohn, beloved citizen and friend; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Eugene was born on March 24, 1923. He received his elementary education from St. Gertrude's School and graduated from St. George's High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II and received an Honorable Discharge. While serving his country as a medic, Eugene's heart was captured by an Army nurse, Beatrice M. Calliare. They were united in marriage at St. Gertrude's Church on June 5, 1947 and were blessed with five loving children, John, Bill, Mary, Jim and Jeanne; and
WHEREAS, Eugene was a dedicated employee at Grayba Electric Company as an office salesman. He was a vital, active and longtime resident of his grateful community. He began playing Softball at Hayt playground as a young boy and continued playing until his late 40's as a member of the Old Timers Team. Eugene was an avid Cub and Bears fan, affectionately known as "Archie" by his many friends and family became well known throughout his neighborhood for caring about his grateful neighbors and for being an exemplary patriarch of a loving family; and
WHEREAS, A cherished friend and a good neighbor to all, Eugene D. Kohn had enriched the lives of the young and the old. He will be deeply missed but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
WHEREAS, Eugene was the beloved husband of Beatrice, loving father of John (Nancy) Kohn, Bill Kohn, Mary (Tom) Lyons, Jim (Patricia) Kohn, and Jeanne (John) Barr; devoted grandfather of Judy, Patrick, Bridgett (Nick) Wilkins, Nick (Joanna) Kohn, Tim, Danny, (late Chris), Bobby Steven, Katie Kohn, Francessa (Jason) Knedlhans, Teri, J.J., and David Barr; and the great grandfather of seven; and
