A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF ROSETTA CRAWFORD
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Rosetta Crawford on April 16, 2018 at the age of 75; and
WHEREAS, Rosetta Crawford was born on February 20, 1943 in Chicago to John and Sophie Crawford. Rosetta was the youngest of 4 sisters; Elizabeth, Juanita and Classie (Willie) all of whom preceded her in death. Rosetta graduated from Englewood High School in 1961. In August of 1967, she gave birth to her only daughter, Kimberly Crawford; and
WHEREAS, In 1976, after the death of her mother, Rosetta moved to San Jose, California with her beloved aunt and uncle, Jessie and Hillard (Jack) Clark where she worked for the San Jose Public Library. Rosetta bonded with her aunt and uncle, who were dutiful to help Rosetta develop in the absence of her mother; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, Rosetta, Kim, Jessie and Jack all moved back to Chicago. One year later, Uncle Jack passed away and the three remaining ladies lived together for the next 21 years, until Aunt Jessie went to join Uncle Jack in eternity; and
WHEREAS, Rosetta gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1981. Shortly after she joined Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church where she was a long and faithful servant on the Nurses Board. Rosetta was an active intercessor praying for the concerns and issues of others. In 2002, Rosetta and Kim joined Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, IL; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Rosetta began her career with the City of Chicago working for the Mayor's Office of Workforce and Development. Rosetta was a hard worker and committed to the people of Chicago. Rosetta enjoyed her job, and was reluctant to retire. But after 26 years, she retired in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Rosetta enjoyed shopping, ministry, westerns and fellowship with family and friends. Rosetta loved children and her nieces and nephews brought her great joy. Her trademark was to kiss each one on their forehead. Rosetta had a teaching spi...
