RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., was a retired member of the Chicago Fire Department and the devoted husband of the late Joyce M.; and
 
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., was the much-adored father of Michael (C.F.D.), Robert (C.F.D.), Jane Hoff, John and William (C.F.D.), the grandfather of twelve and the great-grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a Past President of the Chicago Firefighters Union, Local #2; and
 
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., was a sixty-year member of the Cement Masons Union Local #502; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2012, do hereby commemorate John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John "Jack" Gallapo, Jr.
