SALUTE TO THE CHICAGO CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER
WHEREAS, The Chicago Children's Advocacy Center (CCAC) is a vital and important institution in this city whose mission it is to coordinate public, private, and community agencies to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children in order to remediate the suffering of this city's abused children; and
WHEREAS, The CCAC will be holding their third annual fundraising event, "A Night on Bourbon Street" on February 9, 2013 at the Chicago Hilton on South Michigan Avenue celebrating another successful year and honoring the endurance of more than 20,000 children and families they have served. This event features live music, Cajun cuisine, street performers, dancing, silent auctions and a second line parade; and
WHEREAS, All this revelry is in support of the programs provided by this outstanding agency that make such a difference in the lives of children and families who have experienced abuse. Some of their services include covering the cost of transporting families who would otherwise not be able to get to and from the CCAC, provide forensic interviews that allow a child to tell their story to a trained specialist in a comfortable and child-friendly environment, provide art therapy for the child who may not be able to verbalize what happened to him or her due to age, trauma, or cognitive or developmental delays as well as providing comprehensive family advocacy, crisis intervention, needs assessment and resource referral services; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Roberto Maldonado, Alderman of the 26lh Ward has apprised this august body of this unique and remarkable institution's worthy goals and it's upcoming noteworthy charitable event; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 17lh Day of January, 2013 AD, do hereby salute the praiseworthy and important work ofthe Chicago Children's Advocacy Center and extend our very best wishes for...
