WHEREAS, P.O. Thomas J. Sheehan #11903 ofthe 22nd Police District has 1 announced his retirement from the Chicago Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago has been informed of this occasion by Alderman Matthew J. O'Shea; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Sheehan was born on December 13th 1954 to the proud parents Rosemary and Thomas. Officer Sheehan was raised in Chicago in the Wrightwood Neighborhood and attended St Thomas More School until the 6th grade; and
WHEREAS, The Sheehan family relocated to Decatur Georgia where Thomas finished the seventh and eighth grade and attended St Josephs High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Thomas graduated in 1972 but then returned to Chicago and attended Moraine Valley Community College, St Xavier College and Loyal University; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Test was offered in 1975 and Sheehan decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and joined the Chicago Police Department force on January 19th 1981; and.
WHEREAS, In 1975 Officer Sheehan met the love of his life Veronica who he would marry on September 17th 1977. Veronica and Tom raised four children Sarah, Katie, Tommie and Meghan and are blessed with two grandchildren Patrick and Peter; and
WHEREAS, Officer Sheehan enjoyed thirty and one half years as a member of the Chicago Police Department until his retirement on May 15th 2011; and.
WHEREAS, Friends and Family will gather on June 23, 2011 to celebrate his retirement at the Beverly Woods Restaurant located at 11532 S. Western; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Members ofthe Chicago City Council assembled the 8th day of June, 2001 do hereby congratulate and pay tribute to P.O. Thomas J. Sheehan on the occasion of his retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to P.O. THOMAS J. SHEEHAN # 11903
