RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney has gone to her eternal reward at the age of 45; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving wife for 19 years of Timothy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney was the much-adored mother of Timothy, Thomas and Colleen to whom she imparted values of character and kindness; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Oak Lawn, the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney was the beloved daughter of Thomas, a telephone company employee, and Jean, a schoolteacher; and the dear sister of Thomas; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney graduated from Loyola University School of Law in Chicago and began her legal career by clerking for then-Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mary Jane Theis and Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Ann McMorrow; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney joined the law firm of Quinlan & Crisham which became Schuyler, Roche 8s Crisham; and
WHEREAS, During her highly illustrious legal career, the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney argued cases on numerous occasions before the Illinois Supreme Court and generously gave of her time and talents to handle pro-bono cases; and
WHEREAS, Widely admired for her legal knowledge and expertise, the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney was elected President of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association; and
WHEREAS, In 2010 the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney was appointed to a vacancy on the bench and was elected in 2012 as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to...
