MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ALBERT M. JACKSON
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Mr. Albert M. Jackson on January 13, 2017; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Albert "Big Al" M. Jackson was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Albert and Ida Mae Jackson Turner in Sherard, Mississippi on December 19, 1937; and
WHEREAS, Albert graduated from Higgins High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where he became an accomplished football player. He later went on to attend Jackson State University, joining the football team as a running back; and
WHEREAS, He loved to travel, and Albert later moved to Chicago, Illinois after visiting relatives. Albert held positions at the U.S. Post Office, the Chicago Transit Authority, Sunrise Transportation, and Ford Motor Company where he retired after twenty-five years of service to the company; and
WHEREAS, While working for Ford, Albert met the love his life, Geneva Moore, the couple married in 1983; and
WHEREAS, Albert is remembered as a family man, who loved sports, travel, bid whist, poker and jazz music. He was known for being a fun-loving jokester and had a unique perspective on life, his favorite saying was "I can't hear what you're saying, for what you're doing;" and
WHEREAS, Albert served the City of Chicago as a precinct captain in the West Pullman and Roseland communities for ten years; and
WHEREAS, Albert joined Trinity United Church of Christ in 1987 and served in the Greeter's ministry; and
WHEREAS, Albert leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Geneva; children, Maurice White, Kevin Jackson, Rocco (Deitra), Juan Jackson, Juanda Renee Jackson, Sherri Bradley, Alicia Jackson, Gem'el Jackson, and Geornar Moore; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends; and
