RESOLUTION HONORING THE RETIREMENT OF HELEN SOCHA
WHEREAS, Helen Socha, leader of US Retail Banking at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), will retire on June 30, 2022, following a long and distinguished career in the banking industry; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Matthew J, O'Shea, Alderman ofthe 19th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Helen started her banking career as a teller at Worth Bank and Trust in 1975 and through hard work and dedication, climbed the banking ladder to become the Head of US Retail Banking at CIBC Bank USA; and
WHEREAS, Helen is well known throughout CIBC's southwest suburban communities for her commitment to help clients reach their ambitions and has provided leadership to her team through challenging times, including the 2008 financial crises and current pandemic; through these challenging times, Helen always had the client at the heart of all she did and that commitment has carried throughout the years; and
WHEREAS, Helen's long list of accomplishments in the banking industry includes successfully integrating Founders Bank into The Private Bank, leading CIBC's Retail Team expansion into the Little Village and Bronzeville communities, and leading the renovation of the Mt. Greenwood banking centers; and
WHEREAS, During retirement, Helen looks forward to spending time with her husband, Ken, travelling, baking her world class kolackys, and planning events; and
WHEREAS, Helen's impact has been great and will be felt by 19th Ward and City residents for years to come; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-second day of June, 2022, do hereby congratulate Helen Socha on her retirement, and wish her well on her future endeavors; and
