MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF FIREFIGHTER FIDEL G. SERRANO
WHEREAS, On August 26, 2021, Chicago Fire Department Engine Company 89 and Truck 56, will hold a Memorial Bell Ringing Ceremony commemorating the members of their house who have fallen in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of the Engine 89 and Truck 56 Memorial Bell Ringing ceremony by the honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, The Bell Ringing ceremony will commemorate Firefighter Fidel G. Serrano; and
WHEREAS, Fidel G. Serrano began his time with the Chicago Fire Department in April 2005 as a paramedic, and served on Ambulance Company 3; and
WHEREAS, In August 2009, Fidel returned to the Quinn Fire Academy for firefighter training; upon the completion of his training, Fidel was assigned to Truck 56; and
WHEREAS, After working a shift at Engine 125, Fidel suffered a stroke and passed away on his birthday, August 26, 2012, at the age of 41; and
WHEREAS, Fidel was survived by his father, Fidel; his mother, Venecia; and his brother, Alan; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of the City of Chicago would like to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants, and extend our gratitude to Firefighter Serrano for his service to the City; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of October, 2021, do hereby honor Firefighter Fidel G. Serrano's sacrifice and thank him for his dedicated service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Chicago Fire Department Engine 89 and Truck 56 in memory of Firefighter Fidel G. Serrano, and as a sign of our honor and respect.
