RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough enjoyed a 40-year career as an educator and was the loving husband of Patricia; and
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough was the much-adored father of nine children and nine grandchildren to whom he imparted many of the fine
and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, Ted D. Kimbrough was raised in Evanston and attended Northern Illinois University before earning a master's degree in education from California State University in Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough ably served for 26 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District where he rose to become Assistant Superintendent before becoming Superintendent of Schools in Compton; and
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough was Superintendent of Schools in Chicago under the administration of Mayor Richard M. Daley and helped guide the system through its early days of reform which gave power to locally elected school councils; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the Chicago Public Schools in 1993, Ted D. Kimbrough became Superintendent of Schools in Sacramento, California from which he retired in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as an educator and administrator, Ted D. Kimbrough always fulfilled the highest and most noble ideals of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Ted D. Kimbrough serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Ted D. Kimbrough to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Ted D. Kimbrough was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
