MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR JOSEPH JOHN CASILLAS
WHEREAS, Joseph John Casillas, veteran and beloved family man, passed away on March 5, 2020, at 88; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Joseph's passing by the Honorable Derrick G. Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Joseph was born on December 25, 1931; he was a cherished son ofthe late Antonio and Anita and a loving brother to his 13 siblings; and
WHEREAS, Joseph was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having fought in the Korean War; and
WHEREAS, Always making people laugh wherever he went, Joseph developed his broad sense of humor during the golden age of television watching shows like Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows", Jackie Gleason, Sanford and Son, and Benny Hill; and
WHEREAS, Joseph enjoyed taking vacations throughout the United States, trying to see as many historical places as possible; and
WHEREAS, An avid sports fan, Joseph loved football and baseball, and any Chicago team ... as long as they were winning; and
WHEREAS, Known as "Uncle Joe" to his adoring nieces and nephews, Joseph was a family man and a big proponent of establishing a regular Sunday family picnic with all his siblings' families, a tradition that would carry on for decades; and
WHEREAS, Beloved husband to Mary for 64 years, Joseph was also a loving father to David, Virgina, and Steven (Cookie); grandfather to Pam (Rob), Crystal (Jim), Samantha, Sean, and Gabrielle; great­grandfather to 11; brother to the late Anthony, the late Delores (the late Charles), the late Sally (the late James), Frances (the late William), Carmen (the late Phillip), Louis (Sylvia), Rosemary, the late Raymond, Richard (Diane), the late Ronald (Diane), Helen, Marie, and his twin brother, the late John (Mary); and uncle to his many nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Joseph always had a lot to say and a lot to give, and while he will truly be missed, he will never be forgotten; now, therefore
