Memorial Resolution for Helen Louise Somerville

 

 

WHEREAS, Helen Louise Somerville was called to her final resting place on November 7, 2016, after a courageous battle with a long-term illness; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Helen Louise Somerville's passing by the Honorable Alderman Anthony Beale of the 9th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Helen Louise Somerville was born on February 26, 1930, to Willie Johnson and Mary T. Cooper in Memphis, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Helen married the love of her life Jenrette Somerville. They were blessed with five children; and

WHEREAS, Helen will be greatly missed for her kindness and generosity to friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Somerville leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Carl (Edith), Robert and Darrin (Felicia); two daughters, Rhonda and Margaret; one brother, Claude (Kiruncia); twelve grandchildren, Rachel, Aaron, Katrice, Stephen, Kashundra, Nathan, Ebonie, Ashley, Brandon, Darrin Jr., Maddie and Kamiah; one great grandchild, Ariana; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Helen Louise Somerville was preceded in death by her parents Willie Johnson and Mary T. Cooper; husband, Jenrette; three sisters, Mary, Margaret and Hanna; and two brothers, Edward and Erskin; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Helen Louise Somerville and extend to her family our sincere condolences; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Helen Louise Somerville as a token of our gratitude and respect.
