MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF FIREFIGHTER LAWRENCE G. MINOGUE
WHEREAS, On August 26, 2021, Chicago Fire Department Engine Company 89 and Truck 56, will hold a Memorial Bell Ringing Ceremony commemorating the members of their house who have fallen in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of the Engine 89 and Truck 56 Memorial Bell Ringing Ceremony by the honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Memorial Bell Ringing Ceremony will commemorate Firefighter Lawrence G. Minogue; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence G. Minogue began his time with the Chicago Fire Department on May 22, 1936, and was assigned to Engine Company 44 after attending the Drill School; and
WHEREAS, In April 1945, Lawrence was transferred to Engine 111, and in March 1946, he joined the newly formed Squad 11; and
WHEREAS, In April 1956, Lawrence transferred to Engine Company 89, where he served for four months before going on the duty disability roster; and
WHEREAS, While there are no records of how or when Lawrence sustained his disabling injury, he succumbed to its effects on February 12, 1968, at the age of 58; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence was survived by his wife, Adeline; and his children, Lawrence, William, and Marilyn; and
WHEREAS, The leaders ofthe City of Chicago would like to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants, and extend our gratitude to Firefighter Minogue for his service to the City; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of October, 2021, do hereby honor Firefighter Lawrence G. Minogue's sacrifice and thank him for his dedicated service; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Chicago Fire Department Engine 89 and Truck 56, in memory of Firefighter Lawrence G. Minogue, and as a sign of our honor and respect.
