RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, In recognition of his leadership and appreciation of his tireless work improving the lives of residents ofthe 12th Ward and all Chicagoans through zealous advocacy as a member ofthe City Council, the Members ofthis Chamber are pleased to congratulate Alderman George A. Cardenas, on the occasion of his election to the Cook County Board of Review; and
WHEREAS, George Cardenas has lived in Chicago since he was a young child when his family moved from his birthplace of Durango, Mexico; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Cardenas received a high school diploma from Lane Technical High School before joining the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, Alderman Cardenas earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Northeastern Illinois University- before working for a variety of Fortune 500 companies; and
WHEREAS, George Cardenas was first elected Alderman in 2003 and re-elected four times; and
WHEREAS, Since 2011, George Cardenas has chaired the Environmental Protection and Energy Committee where he has helped to ensure a clean and prosperous future for all Chicagoans; and
WHEREAS, As Alderman, George Cardenas has successfully campaigned to increase Chicago's minimum wage, fundamentally reform business policies, and increase transparency in City government; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Cardenas has recruited multiple new businesses and developments to serve the constituents of the 12th Ward; and
WHEREAS, George Cardenas led the fight to create a Mental Health Service Task Force;

WHEREAS, George Cardenas has hosted numerous community events to help best serve his consti...
