RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Steven T. Rosen, a distinguished member of the medical community, has announced that he will conclude his esteemed tenure as Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University and Director of Cancer Programs at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, effective January 31, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Steven T. Rosen has accepted a new position as the Provost and Scientific Director of City of Hope, a world-class cancer research hospital located in Duarte, California; and
 
WHEREAS, During his thirty-two years at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Steven T. Rosen demonstrated remarkable leadership; and
 
WHEREAS, A world-class physician, Dr. Steven T. Rosen is considered a "doctor's doctor" to his many patients who are grateful for his compassionate care; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Steven T. Rosen is the recipient of numerous awards, including the University's Alumni Merit Award, Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award and the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation Community of Commitment Award; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Steven T. Rosen serves on the National Board of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and many cancer center advisory boards; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Steven T. Rosen serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of November, 2013, do hereby congratulate Dr. Steven T. Rosen on his new position and do hereby express our sincere appreciation for his outstanding commitment and dedicated service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Steven T. Rosen.
