A Resolution Honoring The First Annual Harold A. Bezazian Lecture
WHEREAS, The Bazazian Branch of the Chicago Public Library was named after Harold A. Bezazian, born November 9,1911, died March 11,1945 in the Battle of Luzon during World War Two and was an aspiring writer; and
WHEREAS, Bezazian branch library has been successfully serving the North Uptown community since its opening in 1957; and
WHEREAS, Bezazian has employed dozens of Chicagoans in its 58 years and served hundreds of thousands; and
WHEREAS, Bezazian houses an historic collection of photos of Uptown in the 1970s; and
WHEREAS, Bezazian has always been one of the busiest branches in the Chicago Library system; and
WHEREAS, Bezazian serves one of the most culturally and economically diverse communities in Chicago; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-eighth day of November, 2015 do hereby join with Our Friends of Bezazian to recognize Bazazian Library as a treasure in the Uptown neighborhood; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, We recognize the first annual Harold Bezazian Lecture on November 7, 2015; and '
