CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO OVERFLOW COFFEE BAR ON FOURTH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, On March 18, 2015, Overflow Coffee Bar celebrated four years of operation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of this anniversary by the Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, owners Brandon and Amanda Neely started with a mission to open a coffee shop dedicated to giving back to the community; and
WHEREAS, Overflow Coffee Bar has operated for four years as a cornerstone in the South Loop neighborhood, donating to local nonprofits, hosting community meetings, and bringing other local businesses together to network and boost the economic vitality of the area; and
WHEREAS, committed to being a responsible business with a focus beyond just profit, Overflow Coffee Bar uses environmentally-friendly and fair-labor products, and provides a place for locals to enjoy responsibly made products in a welcoming, friendly neighborhood environment; and
WHEREAS, as the seventeenth low-profit Limited Liability Company organized in the State of Illinois, Overflow Coffee Bar became a pioneer in this social enterprise venture, and has built a hybrid structure that combines the legal and tax flexibility of a traditional LLC with the social benefits of a nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, awarded Green Business Award from the Alliance for a Greener South Loop in 2012 and 2013, Overflow Coffee Bar has established itself as a popular, socially conscious business in the four short years since it opened, demonstrating the business savvy, dedication to community advancement, and hard work of the owners and staff; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby congratulate Overflow Coffee Bar on four years of operation, and extend our wishes for continued success in the future.
