WHEREAS, Ryan Patrick Healy has gone to his eternal reward at the age of thirty-eight; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Aldermen Edward M. Burke and Matthew J. O'Shea; and

WHEREAS, A third-generation member of the Chicago Police Department, Ryan Patrick Healy hailed from a proud tradition of public service; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Patrick Healy wore Chicago Police Department Star #9059 as his father and grandfather did before him and ably served as an officer in the 10th District; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Patrick Healy approached his duty with the utmost professionalism and determination and received twenty-six Honorable Mentions, one Crime Reduction Award, two Department Commendations and a Distinguished Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Born on June 22, 1974, Ryan Patrick Healy was raised in Christ the King Parish in the Beverly community; and

WHEREAS, The loving son of John "Red," (Ret-C.P.D.) and Mary, nee Ryan, Ryan Patrick Healy was the devoted brother of Erin and Megan and the loving uncle of Jack, Brigid, Quinn and Molly; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Patrick Healy graduated from Marist High School and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Columbia College in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his journalistic excellence, Ryan Patrick Healy was awarded first place for Best News Story and third place for Best Feature Story in the Illinois College Press Association Competition; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Patrick Healy was also a recipient of a Fischetti Scholarship for leadership and excellence in academic studies; and

WHEREAS, Following his graduation from Columbia College, Ryan Patrick Healy moved to San Francisco where he worked for eight years in the financial markets; and
WHEREAS, From 1997 to 2005, Ryan Patrick Healy worked at firms that included Casey Securities, Pax Clearing Company, ABN AMRO Sage Corporation and Merrill Lynch Professional Clearing Corporation; and
