TRIBUTE TO HARVEY BEASLEY
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted Harvey Beasley eternal rest on January 15, 2010; and
WHEREAS, On October 25, 1938, Harvey Beasley was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Henry Beasley and Velma Beasley-Jackson as the eldest of seven children. His own family, included his beloved wife, Shirley; sons, Louis Seay and Michael Beasley; three sisters, Rev. Betty Fields, Bernie Jones and Adrian Ralston; two brothers, James Beasley and Norman Beasley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends will cherish his memory; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Beasley was employed at Ford Motor Company and was a welder and mobile crane operator at Acme Steel Mill for 32 years. He was well respected and helped fellow workers keep their jobs. As a member of United Steel Workers of America Local #1657, he assisted in the administration of the steel mill's Employee Assistance Program. He was also an active member of 7700/7800 South Colfax Avenue Block Club; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Beasley was remembered for his fun-loving character. His siblings looked to him for guidance as well as leadership. He leaves behind a legacy of fairness, integrity, love for family and guidance for how to treat one another. When Harvey Beasley spoke, others listened; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable, Sandi Jackson, Alderman of the 7th Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of this kind and generous citizen; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 14th Day of April, 2010 AD, do hereby express our sincere sorrow at the passing of Harvey Beasley, and extend our deepest condolences to his family and all those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Harvey Beasley.
