RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING LAURA AVALOS ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE

TEACHING PROFESSION

 

 

WHEREAS, Laura Avalos, a teacher at Jane Addams Elementary School for the Chicago Public Schools, is retiring after a long career of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, Laura was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 15, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Laura received her primary education at Saint Michael the Archangel School, and her secondary education at Saint Francis De Sales High School; and

WHEREAS, Laura received her college and graduate education Chicago State University; and

WHEREAS, Laura has, in her long career, provided dedicated service to many schools, including Our Lady of Guadalupe School, Douglas Taylor Elementary School, Sheridan Math & Science Academy, and Arnold Mireles Academy; and

WHEREAS, Laura has, most recently, served with merit and distinction as an instructor at Jane Addams Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Laura has dedicated herself to the care and instruction of her students, encouraged their positive growth and development, and served as an invaluable asset to her community and profession throughout her long career; and

WHEREAS, Laura has also been the proud wife of Michael Avalos for thirty-eight years, the proud mother to her daughter Dana and her son Michael, as well as a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Jordan and Jason; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Chicago City Council, have been informed of this significant occasion by the Honorable Susan Sadlowski-Garza, Alderman of the Tenth Ward; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that We, the Mayor and Members ofthe Chicago City Council, gather here this (date), do hereby do hereby and express our deep gratitude to Laura Avalos for her service and extend our very best wishes for a wonderful retirement and continued happiness; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy be presented to Laura Avalos as a sign of our utmost honor and respect.
