Resolution

Whereas, Reverend Dominic J. Grassi is retiring as Pastor of St. Gertrude Parish; and

Whereas, Rev. Grassi was ordained for the Archdiocese of Chicago in May 1973 and served as Pastor of St. Gertude for 11 years; and

Whereas, Rev. Grassi is a published author of six books and has written numerous articles for publications including Critic, U.S. Catholic Digest and American Magazine; and

Whereas, Rev. Grassi has been active in many social organizations including ECRA, the Edgewater Community Religious Association, an interfaith group that looks to find the aspects that our faith traditions have in common; and

Whereas, Rev. Grassi has collected many awards such as Tree of Life Award, First Founders Award from the Mental Illness Ministry of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Distinguished Pastor - National Catholic Education Assoc, and St John XXII Award - Assoc. of Chicago Priests; and

Whereas, Rev Grassi has made a significant contribution to the Edgewater community.

Now, be it resolved, that the Mayor and members of the City Council of Chicago, assembled this 24^th day of May, 2017, do hereby honor Rev. Grassi for his contributions to the community.
