RESOLUTION HONORING THE WORK OF BUSINESS TECH EDUCATION CENTER
WHEREAS, small businesses and business incubators like BTEC play an outsized role in our 21st century economy and rarely get the attention they deserve; and,
WHEREAS, BTEC is an organization that deserves recognition. BTEC is an incubator for innovation and entrepreneurship, and has partnered with the Chicago Latino Caucus Foundation, Latino Fashion Week, WOZ U Education, and co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak; and,
WHEREAS, BTEC partnered with journalist Sajedah Al-khzaleh for her documentary, Omar, a story on a pair of fraternal twins' contrasting lives as they grow up living alongside one's disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, on November 10th, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Chicago & Midwest Chapter awarded Omar the Crystal Pillar Award at their Annual Emmy Ceremony, which awards the collegial participation of up and coming journalists and storytelling; and,
WHEREAS, the BTEC, led by Xavier Hernandez and his team has worked tirelessly to tell this story and deserve to be rewarded for their hard work; and,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this 23rd Day of January, 2019, do hereby congratulate the BTEC team on their hard work; and,
