RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband for forty-two years of Jeannette; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben was the much-adored father of Michael, Timothy, Jeffery, Howard and Hope, the stepfather of Hurley and Gregory and the grandfather of eleven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Don H. Reuben graduated from Northwestern University School of Commerce and Northwestern University. Law School; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben enjoyed a long and highly successful legal career which spanned sixty-five years; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben began to practice law in Chicago with the firm now known as Kirkland & Ellis and tried many criminal and civil cases before becoming a prominent media and First Amendment lawyer; and
WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Don H. Reuben served as counsel to the Chicago Tribune and its newspaper and broadcast subsidiaries; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben also served as the Special Master for the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and adjudicated the first constitutional redistricting of all wards in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Don H. Reuben serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Don H. Reuben will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Don H. Reuben imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby commemorate Don H. Reuben for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his fami...
