MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Anne Catherine Thometz, born on May 4, 1922, was called by God to her eternal reward on November 1, 2012, at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Anne Catherine Thometz was an active and vital member of her community. Anne was the loving wife of John J., M.D.; beloved mother of John (Liz), Gerard (Jamie), Mary Anne (Rob) Uhland, Anne (Kent) McGuire and Joseph (Nancy) Thometz; cherished grandmother of twenty; devoted great-grandmother of two; loving sister of the late Mary (Joe) Martin and the late John Fardy; and dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. She leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Anne Catherine Thometz touched the lives of many through her years of teaching and her lifelong commitment to volunteer work in a multitude of charitable organizations. Her kindness, devotion to her husband and family, as well as her deep faith in God will not be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, Anne Catherine Thometz will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twelfth day of December 2012, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Anne Catherine Thometz and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anne Catherine Thometz.
