RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Youth Service Project (YSP), celebrates its 40th anniversary this year; and
WHEREAS, this esteemed body has been apprised of this occasion by the Honorable Roberto Maldonado, Alderman of the 26th Ward; and
WHEREAS, since 1975, YSP has worked with youth and families in the neighborhood of Humboldt Park, known for its rich history and cultural and ethnic diversity; and
WHEREAS, since 1975, YSP has worked with youth and families to help overcome challenges and has provided positive alternatives for youth in the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, with dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors, YSP has grown tremendously over the span of 40 years thanks to the involvement of many in the community and a clear and focused mission; and
WHEREAS, through program offerings in seven core areas: education, recreation, intervention, prevention, arts and culture, community building, and diversion, YSP has worked with youth, rather than for youth, to bring about opportunities and enrichment for bright and promising young people; and
WHEREAS, truly living up to their mission of a creative youth services to help youth maximize their strengths and navigate their lives, YSP serves as a model organization; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April. 2015 do hereby congratulate Youth Service Project on their 40th anniversary and extend our heartiest well wishes for future success.
