CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ALBANY PARK THEATER PROJECT ON RECEIVING THE 2011 MIDWEST LIGHT OF HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD.
WHEREAS, The Albany Park Theater Project is the recipient of the 2011 Midwest Light of Human Rights Award; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Albany Park Theater Project at Eugene Field Park is located in the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The National Immigrant Justice Center is honoring the magnificent teen ensemble members, exceptional staff, and extraordinary leader David Feiner, of the Albany Park Theater Project, for their steadfast dedication to creating art that inspires all of us to envision a more just world, with the 2011 Midwest Light of Human Rights Award at a luncheon on June 2, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Heartland Alliance's National Immigrant Justice Center is recognizing the Albany Park Theater Project for its commitment to using the arts and to give voice to the immigrant experience by lending a face and name to the millions of people who come to the United States seeking a better life. The Albany Park Theater Project's work plays a critical role in promoting the human rights of immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby congratulate the Albany Park Theater Project on receiving the 2011 Midwest light of Human Rights Award and extend our best wishes for continuing success; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Albany Park Theater Project.
