RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On April 29, 2011, the world will joyfully celebrate the much-anticipated marriage of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton; and
WHEREAS, Nearly two thousand guests will attend the wedding ceremony which is to be held at Westminster Abbey in London, England; and
WHEREAS, At the conclusion of their wedding ceremony, the royal couple will proceed to Buckingham Palace where they will wave to well-wishers before attending a luncheon reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and later a private dinner and dancing event; and
WHEREAS, His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, who is second in the line of succession to Queen Elizabeth II, first met Catherine Middleton in 2001 when both were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland; and
WHEREAS, An estimated two billion people worldwide will view the union of this royal couple via television, the world wide web, and other modes of technology; and
WHEREAS, Robert Chatterton Dickson, Consul General of Great Britain in Chicago, will host Chicago's official celebration of the royal wedding on Thursday, April 28, 2011, with a reception to be held at 161 E. Chicago Avenue; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby congratulate His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton on the celebration of their marriage, and do hereby extend our best wishes to the entire British Royal Family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Chatterton Dickson, Consul General for Great Britain in Chicago.
