MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Earl G. Christensen, on February 14, 2015, at the age of eighty-four; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 6,1930, Earl was the loving husband of Carol, nee Lauer, for over forty-five years; proud father of Denise, Carla and Renee Christensen; wonderful son-in-law of the late Evelyn Lauer; adored nephew of the late Christine Christensen-Hershey and many others as well; dear brother of the late Raymond (Marion) Christensen and the late John "Jack" Jensen; cherished uncle of John, Karen, Bill, Jim and the late Jeanne; great uncle, cousin and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially Marvin Nelson, John Slater and Charlie Sikorski. Earl leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Earl was a United States Navy Veteran; founding member of Hanger One, Glenview Naval Air Station; active member of Morton Grove American Legion Post 134 and sixty year member of the Carpenters Union Local 181.
WHEREAS, Earl touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit; and
WHEREAS, Earl will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of March, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Earl G. Christensen and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl G. Christensen.
