RESOLUTION HONORING NORTHWEST SIDE HOUSING CENTER'S "RAPID RESPONSE TEAM"
WHEREAS, The Belmont Cragin Community experienced some of the highest COVID-19 related deaths, illnesses and economic impacts of anywhere in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Housing Center took immediate action and formed the "Rapid Response Team" to get much needed assistance to this community; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated team of Salvador Mendoza, Nicholas Pereira, Cindy Olivares, Ciro Olivares, Ruben Olivares, Cecilia Salgado, Ruben Valentin, Maricarmen Zavala, and their outstanding leader, James Rudyk, stepped up and gave their time, energy and passion to make a difference in people's lives; and
WHEREAS, They provided 7,000 boxes of food through food distribution days, and have personally delivered masks, sanitizers, vaccine information and other essentials to over 5,000 families; and
WHEREAS, They went door-to-door and led other outreach efforts, helping connect people to resources such as rental assistance and health programs; and
WHEREAS, They helped over 16,000 people get fully vaccinated in Belmont Cragin alone; and
WHEREAS, They have demonstrated what it means to lead in times of community crisis, and we, the people of the City of Chicago would like to share our deepest gratitude; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of Chicago, gathered here this 21" day of July, 2021, do hereby call public attention to the contributions of the Northwest Side Housing Center and their Rapid Response team in this community's time of need; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to the Northwest Side Housing Center, as well as each of the exemplary Rapid Response Team Members as a token of our respect and gratitude for their hard work and dedication to the residents of Belmont Cragin and City of Chicago.
