Resolution

Whereas, Reverend Helen Cooper has been a Chicago pastor for 40 years and a longtime 48^th Ward resident; and

Whereas, The City Council has been notified of her 40^th anniversary as pastor at West Side Center of Truth by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and

Whereas Reverend Helen Cooper founded West Side Center of Truth 40 years ago as a place of worship for everyone in the community; and

Whereas, Reverend Helen Cooper has served on numerous civic boards and has had a positive impact on her congregation and community; and

Whereas, Reverend Helen Cooper has offered her leadership to the American Clergy Leadership Conference and was the first female pastor to preach in front of the conference; and

Whereas, Reverend Helen Cooper's generous spirit has led her to serve the senior community through Operation Brotherhood; and

Whereas, Reverend Helen Cooper has participated in many ministerial pilgrimages with the International Conference for Clergy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this day of October 8, 2014. do hereby express our gratitude for Reverend Helen Cooper's commitment to her congregation and the community; and

Be it further resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Helen Cooper.
