RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri has gone to his eternal reward at the age of twenty-six; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Homer Glen, Michael Olivieri was the loving and devoted husband of Sharon Beckman-Olivieri; and
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri was the beloved son of Mike and Jody and the much-adored brother of Abby, Ashley and Joe; and
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri lost his life on June 6, 2011, during an attack launched by insurgents on a base near Baghdad, Iraq while bravely serving his country in the global war against terrorism; and
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri was a graduate of Lockport Township High School and attended Southern Illinois University; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished musician, Michael Olivieri was a singer and guitarist; and
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri was a generous and energetic leader who put the needs of others ahead of his own; and
WHEREAS, The Homer Township Public Library has announced plans to honor the memory of Michael Olivieri and other fallen soldiers by creating a Heroes' quiet reading room on its premises; and
WHEREAS, Michael Olivieri will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his relatives, friends, and fellow service personnel; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Michael Olivieri imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate Michael Olivieri for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Olivieri.
