RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband of Alma, nee Tyson; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker was the much-adored father of Alexander to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker graduated from St. Ignatius High School and Harvard College before earning his law degree from Boston University School of Law; and

 

WHEREAS, A "fearless warrior" for the poor, Jeffrey Walker worked for the State Appellate Defender's Office and then with the Cook County Public Defender's Office in the Felony Trial Division; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker was then assigned to the Legal Resources Division which represents indigents in post-conviction matters; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Walker will be remembered for his humility, professional excellence and love of sports and smooth jazz; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jeffrey Walker serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jeffrey Walker to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jeffrey Walker imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby commemorate Jeffrey Walker for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeffrey Walker.
