RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Johanna Dalton retired on October 31, 2016, after 19 years of service as Executive Director ofGoldie's Place, located in the 40th Ward of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Johanna is a co-founder ofGoldie's Place, an organization whose mission statement is based on their belief in human potential, assisting adults who are homeless to become self-supporting and financially independent through the services provided by Goldie's Place; and
WHEREAS, Johanna spent her years as a tireless advocate for the homeless and for all who came through the doors ofGoldie's Place, serving as a dedicated servant and friend to the community and as an active leader in the All Chicago Coalition for the Homeless; and
WHEREAS, During Johanna's tenure as Executive Director, her accomplishments were numerous, including starting the first ever dental clinic for the homeless, creating partnerships with the UIC School of Dentistry, allowing dental students to provide over $5-million in free dental services; and
WHEREAS, Johanna's fundraising efforts raised over $15-million for homeless services; and
WHEREAS, Under Johanna's leadership at Goldie's Place, she worked with the homeless to help transform participants into healthy, hopeful, and productive members of the community building their confidence by providing dental treatment, career development and guidance, clothing from the Goldie's Place Clothes Closet as they went on job interviews and job placement, and helped place 1,200 homeless people in jobs; and
WHEREAS, Johanna's tireless work and compassion as an advocate for the homeless in Chicago will always be remembered by the thousands of people she's helped and whose lives she's touched; and
WHEREAS, While Johanna may have retired as Executive Director ofGoldie's Place, her passion in helping the homeless is something that will always carry on; and
