RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Chicago is one of 22 Shriners facilities across North America caring for children with special medical needs since 1926, and
WHEREAS, Shriners Hospital Chicago provides specialty pediatric care in orthopedics, cleft lip/palate, rehabilitation, and spinal cord injury, and
WHEREAS, Shriners Hospital Chicago cares for approximately 15,000 patients annually from six Midwestern States, from across the nation, and from throughout the world, and
WHEREAS, 14 Shrine Centers in Midwestern urban communities provide leadership and resources for the operation ofthe hospital, and
WHEREAS, Shriners from the 14 Shrine centers and from across the country provide transportation, when needed, for patients and families to and from the hospital, and
WHEREAS, Shriners Hospitals Chicago is empowered by the generosity of individual donors, corporations, and foundations, and
WHEREAS, Shriners Hospital Chicago has established a community ofthe finest medical specialists, care-giving nurses, gifted therapists, and a supporting staff of committed individuals, all of whom provide world-class care for children, and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago is justifiably concerned for the welfare of Chicago children, and children everywhere, as fulfilled by Shriners Hospital Chicago, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised ofthe 90th anniversary of Shriners Hospitals for Children - Chicago in 2016, and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body that Shriners Hospital Chicago will inaugurate its 90th Anniversary Celebration at the Chicago Cultural Center on November 12, 2015; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this 15th day of April 2015 do hereby congratulate and thank Shriners Hospitals for Children - Chicago on its 90 years of service to our community; and
