RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen, one of the Chicago area's most talented young athletes, has been selected as a member of the Irish Women's National Lacrosse Team; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her selection by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen will play for the Republic of Ireland in the European Championships to be held in Nymburk in the Czech Republic in August of 2015; and
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen is a senior at Glenbrook South High School and the daughter of Judge Wayne Andersen and former Illinois Appellate Court Justice Sheila O'Brien; and
WHEREAS, A die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen began playing lacrosse as an eighth grader at Springman Middle School in Glenview; and
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen plays for the Glenbrook South Titans coached by Annie Lesch-and Illinois Elite, a club team coached by John Brennan; and
WHEREAS, The five-foot, seven-inch midfielder earned All-State Second Team honors and was All-Conference, Illinois National and Team MVP; and
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen, whose family roots hail from County Mayo and County Kerry in Ireland, holds dual American and Irish citizenship and will attend Princeton University in the fall; and
WHEREAS, Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen participated in official Irish Women's National Lacrosse Team try-outs which were held in Dublin from October 31, 2014, to November 2, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, talent and dedication of Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby congratulate Noreen Jeannette O'Brien Andersen on her selection and do hereby express every good wish for her success as she competes in the 2015 European Lacrosse Championships; and
