RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend James F. Moriarty has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend James F. Moriarty was the beloved son of Thomas "Con" and Bridget, nee Flaherty; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend James F. Moriarty was ordained a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago on May 3,1951 by Samuel Cardinal Stritch; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend James F. Moriarty served as the Pastor of St. Luke Parish in River Forest and St. Joan of Arc Parish in Skokie; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend James F. Moriarty was a former Associate Pastor at St. Ferdinand Parish, St. John the Evangelist Parish in Streamwood, Holy Name Cathedral and St. Mary of the Woods Parish; and

 

WHEREAS, In retirement, the Reverend James F. Moriarty was a resident of St. Pius X Parish in Stickney and the Bishop Lyne Residence for Retired Priests in Palos Park; and

 

WHEREAS, The holiness, dedication and sacrifice of the Reverend James F. Moriarty serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend James F. Moriarty imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Reverend James F. Moriarty for his grace-filled and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable parchment copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Reverend James F. Moriarty.
