RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-three; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Newton, Massachusetts, Myril Axelrod Bennett was a pioneering advertising executive and the loving wife of Abner; and
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett was the much-adored mother of David and Joan and the grandmother of five to whom she imparted many of the fine and gracious qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett worked as a journalist before joining the advertising industry where she helped break barriers for women on Madison Avenue and popularized the use of focus groups; and
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett became one of the first female vice presidents at the advertising giant Young & Rubicam until her retirement in 1983; and
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett later conducted innovative and progressive research on behalf of the senior housing industry; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Myril Axelrod Bennett serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Myril Axelrod Bennett to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Myril Axelrod Bennett will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Myril Axelrod Bennett imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of February, 2014, do hereby commemorate Myril Axelrod Bennett for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
