WHEREAS, On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called to his eternal journey Frank Irving Merchant Jr.; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, He was born on April 29, 1933 to the late Frank Merchant Sr. and Marie Hill-Baggett; and
WHEREAS, Frank confessed faith in Christ at an early age. He was a man of principles and honor who worked with great determination to accomplish his plans; and
WHEREAS, He attended Utah State and served in the United States Army. He later joined RJ Reynolds where he worked for more than thirty years and was blessed to have been retired for over twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, He dealt with life in honesty and integrity. He was a model for sincerity and loved his family dearly; and
WHEREAS, Frank Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Frank; brothers, David and Dennis; a grandson, Roy III; and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Dorothy; daughter, Mary (Andre); two sons, Frank III (Theresa), and Michael (Vanessa), from a previous marriage (Thelma); sons, Roy Jr., and Anthony; three grandchildren, Spencer, Joseph and Sarah; six grandchildren, Rainique, Ravyn, Tiffany, Rasmen, Rhejass and Rashad; one brother Louis (Marilyn); sister, Rosemary; two sister in laws, Rebecca (James) and Deneen; one brother-in-law Hoza (Deborah); nephews, Duane, David, Jeffrey, Derrick, and James Jr.; nieces, Lisa, Tracie and Deena, long time and best friends Jasper, Hazel and Jim; and a host of friends; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of .Chicago, gathered here in assembly this thirteenth day of March, 2013 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Frank Irving Merchant Jr. and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Frank Irving Merchant Jr.'s family.
